I admit, I am in Sephora more often than I should. But on my last visit I found a skincare line called Herbivore and loved their packaging design. Something about their design made me feel like buying their product would make my skin clearer and cleaner regardless of what it actually did.
Outdated brands and packaging like Clinique or Estee Lauder make me shiver with their lack of open space, antique typefaces and color palettes from the 1970’s. Herbivore compliments one single color in a clear container with white. Their label is just one font and is only in black. Yes, it is simple and yes it seems generic, but I find that this sort of approach lends more power to the product and less focus on the packaging which is likely a good thing considering you are selling the product not the box.
